Work has really taken over much of my time as I'm trying to learn new skills and then pass them on to others for future IT projects. These vary from WiFi roll outs to a complete router swap outs in 1300 sites. We've just completed a 127 site server swap out which took about 7 weeks. I've taken on new roles and I'm now out and about doing disaster recoveries on site, new installations and upgrades and loving it.

Photography has taken a back seat at the moment though I have taken my camera with me to the various sites that I've been to and tried to get some photos if I've the time. I even did a wedding the other week on an informal basis as the happy couple didn't want any formal photos which suited me fine.

Any spare time is spent with the family or pottering around in my greenhouse attempting to successfully grow peppers, chillies, cucumbers and tomatoes. The cucumber crop was huge, the peppers are delicious, the chillies hot and the tomatoes green, I've yet to have a good crop of tomatoes.

I won a charity auction for a days hunting with birds of prey in the local area and having spoken to the guy who runs the hunting, its ok to take photos so hopefully I will get a few good shots to upload.

Family life still goes on, with its ups and downs, the kids are due back at school Tuesday so a bit more time to relax in the evening as they will be in bed earlier for school.

Just settled down to watch the Kings Speech which I got weeks ago and haven't had time to watch.

All the best

Well, I've taken to it like a duck to water, for the first time in years there is no stress, no one to justify my decisions to, (except my wife), I now have stability, my family is a lot happier, and I'm content with life, though I do need to get a job as the DIY is coming to an end and the garden will soon be finished. I'm even getting out and about with my camera again.

So, if anyone reading this is leaving the Forces soon, there is life after retirement.

Incidentally, the same person asked me if I would do it all again, I replied "absolutely";)
