This area is in memory of our members who are gone, but not forgotten.
ukexpert is a strong community where members share their interests and often make lifelong friends.

When a member dies we can still see the World as they saw it through their eyes, through their photographs here on ukexpert.

This area is to detail all those whose memory lingers on here. All ukexpert subscribers will be considered for an obituary here.

So, as we all wait to take our place here, let's remember our great friends - who will know we are thinking of them...

    A Poem

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

    Mary Frye, 1932.

    David Furmston

David Furmston was found dead sitting at his computer in his home in Cannock, Staffordshire, on the 12th of November 2007.

David used to be a miner and rode a motorcycle but in December 1981 that all changed when he was the victim of a hit and run driver as he walked along the road.

David had his spine broken in two places, and this left him paralysed and in a wheelchair.

David also suffered brain damage in the accident. David had been a member of this community for many years, first joining back in the days when we were based on CompuServe.

Our records show David to have been 62 when he died.

Last year (2006) David married Nadia who is from Estonia, and together they both took part in ukexpert and uploaded family photos and forum messages and so on.

Our condolences to Nadia and all David's family. We miss you David..

    Buck Buchanan

William Edgar (Buck) Buchanan III died August 7, 2005, at Mad River Hospital, Arcata, CA.

Buck had resided in Blue Lake for the past year and a half since moving from Los Angeles and Hollywood where he had spent his childhood and youth and the latter part of his career.

Buck was born April 18, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, and Edgar and Mildred Buchanan chose him for adoption as their son.

Edgar Buchanan was a well known character actor and achieved considerable acclaim for his roles in more than a hundred films and several television series, the last of which was Petticoat Junction.

Buck was very proud of his family and his daughters. He made a mass of close friends throughout his life.

Buck was a very enthusiastic member of this community for many years. Members went to Buck's Hollywood home, and there are photos on ukexpert of us all at and around Buck's home and the Hollywood sign.

Buck attended many meets and uploaded some great photographs to ukexpert. Buck was a great character, and a great member of this community. We miss you Buck..

    Jim McNulty

Jim died on Friday 1st October 2004 after a very long fight against leukaemia.

Jim was Vice-Chairman of the Police Roll of Honour Trust before leaving to found the Scottish Police Memorial Trust and UK Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charities. He was well known internationally in this field of voluntary work and he will be missed by a great many people both here and abroad.

Jim had been a keen member of our online community for decades.

He ran the UKPOLICE Forum for us on CompuServe, and he also ran UKPROF our UK Professionals Forum.

He attended our meets all over the UK and the USA.

Jim was a truly wonderful man, and he helped many people in many ways.

Many here have great memories of time spent with Jim, and there are photos and videos on the system showing Jim and his great family. We miss you Jim..

    Jim Myers

Jim died from brain cancer in hospital in California USA on July 28th 2004.

ukexpert member Jim was Business Manager at North County Times, the main newspaper in his area.

This is the quarter page item they put in the newspaper. They also ran two versions of Jim's obituary in their obituaries column on two other days.

A lot of Jim's colleagues attended his funeral and several stood up and spoke about Jim's many qualities and how much he will be missed.

Jim leaves behind his devoted wife Pat. Also grown up children David and Lorraine.

Jim was in an open casket. He was later cremated and his ashes were 'buried at sea'. This was Jim's wish as he used to be an Officer in the Merchant Navy.

There are many photos of Jim on the system, including some from his Navy days.

There are also many great photos on the system that were taken by Jim. We miss you Jim..

    David Moore

On June 27, 1992, David Moore crashed during a display at RAF/BAe Woodford in Cheshire. David was killed instantly.

The aircraft, Spitfire RM689 hit the runway and burst into flames after failing to pull out of a loop.

Film of the accident indicates that the aircraft was straight and level with the nose slightly raised at the moment of impact, but still descending fairly rapidly.

David Moore had been the pilot of RM689 since 1982. The aircraft is reportedly being slowly restored.

David was a great member of this community over a long period. We even held one of the Summer BBQ meets in his garden nr Gloucester.

David attended many meets and was seen as a great friend by dozens and dozens of members who had met him.

David had flown for the RAF and had landed on aircraft carriers in the dark, so it is surprising and sad that he died at an airshow.

David's day to day work was flying the Rolls Royce executive jet around the World. The Spitfire David flew at air shows was also owned by Rolls Royce.

David had a young family, and his unexpected death was quite a shock.

Just weeks before we had held a meet at an airshow where he was flying, and many of us sat in the Spitfire that was to later crash.

Photographs of David, the Spitfire, and also video showing David at a meet are all in the ukexpert photo and video area. We miss you David..
