I have just come back from visiting the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
It is a show I've wanted to see for the last couple of years and this year finally got around to seeing. It is a huge show spread over about 3 million square feet taking up the whole of the Las Vegas Convention Centre, part of the Hilton Hotel and part of the Venetion Hotel.
It is certainly not for the faint hearted as it takes a lot of walking, my legs were pretty sore after 4 days! There is everything there from very small companies of probably 5-10 people to massive stands that in the UK would take up the space of a normal hall in itself.
The main focus this year seemed to be centered on 3D displays with dozens of companies exhibiting, I did get the feeling though that the manufacturers were getting a long way ahead of the content suppliers.
I did nearly get tempted by a model Helicopter that ran on Lithium batteries that was said to be nearly uncrashable with a range of a mile and incorporating a video camera that streamed wirelessly to a laptop all for $299.
It never seems to amaze me how Las vegas keeps on changing when I was last there around 6 years ago we stayed at the Boadwalk hotel which was between the New York New York and Bellaggio hotel/casinos this has nw been knocked down and in It's place is an 11 billion hotel/casino/shopping center.
