Family news

Hi all who know me.. a little family news...

This week started off with Natasha having a driving lesson. Normally a minor thing and she drives well already. This time round something happened though, someone walked out into the road, and into the side of her car. She and the instructor applied emergency breaking at the same time but the pedestrian still fell back onto the road and sustained a head wound.

The pedestrian was fitting on the floor, and there was a lot of blood, so it did not look good.

'Dozens' of Police attended. Various types seemed to be there, from what looked like riot Police to what was said to be the 'road death team'. The main road where this happened was closed for four hours while investigations took place. Tasha was breathalised and had an eye sight test, and the car was very carefully inspected. Every detail of the scene and the scuff marks on the side of the car etc were all recorded.

The Police said all along that Tasha seemed not to have done anything wrong and they told her that both at the scene and later that evening. She was allowed to go after an hour or two. Her instructor was there for something like four hours, I think because she had to remain with the car.

It looked very bad for the accident victim and an air ambulance was called. The Doctor on board seemed to feel that the man was having an epileptic fit and after some time he was put in a normal ambulance and taken to hospital.

Later that night the Police called Tasha and said the man had come out of the fit and seemed to be making a full recovery. They again told her she was 'in the clear' and not to let it put her off her driving lessons etc.

Tasha was actually in shock and had to have a couple of days off work she was so shaken up. She did have a driving lesson with the same instructor in the same car during those days to ensure she didn't let this affect her feelings about driving long term.

So, a pretty big incident, and I'm very glad that as far as we know everyone has come out of it okay.

Better things happened today.. it is A level results day and Alice got her results first thing, and she got into her first choice university and she will be studying for a Maths degree there.

My wife Majella had an interview at work this week for a promotion that would see her take on more responsibility in her field of working with youth offenders and their parents. That's certainly a subject that has been in the news of late. Majella probably finds out on Monday whether she got the promotion.

As Alice leaves for Uni Lauren is coming back home for a short time. She has been away from home for many years but as her company is moving away soon she is coming home to make it easier to sort out a new job and a new location to do it from over the coming months. Her current company, a Satellite TV firm, is moving to Manchester in connection with the move of the BBC up there. Lauren has been working in IT support for many years and whilst she enjoys that she may take the chance to switch to something else. She turned down a move to Manchester.

Kristen is doing fine and Brayden starts school in September, which seems amazingly early, at just 3.

For those who don't know I have four daughters, Kristen, Lauren, Natasha, and Alice, and one Grandson Brayden... and those are the folks I give updates on above.

All the best to everyone on here.

Steve
