Olympic mayhem

by Steve on 27th July 2012 at 09:31 AM
Hi all,

Well, the time leading up to the London Olympics has seemed a little fraught in some ways.

Now we have made it to the opening day though I am really looking forward to it. I hope everyone here is.

I've been getting in the mood for it by traveling into town each day, and really soaking up the great atmosphere.

I went and saw the torch in Hillingdon in Outer London. Then at Wembley Stadium, and then again yesterday at Holland Park. Each

Family news

by Steve on 18th August 2011 at 10:31 AM
Hi all who know me.. a little family news...

This week started off with Natasha having a driving lesson. Normally a minor thing and she drives well already. This time round something happened though, someone walked out into the road, and into the side of her car. She and the instructor applied emergency breaking at the same time but the pedestrian still fell back onto the road and sustained a head wound.

The pedestrian was fitting on the floor, and there was a lot of

2011 seems special

by Steve on 27th May 2011 at 07:51 PM
Well, so far 2011 looks like it will be special in the garden.

I keep seeing wildlife I don't normally see there.. from the beehive to our resident Jay.

Today I've seen several birds I haven't noticed in the garden before. The first was early this morning and I watched the small birds but could not really get to photograph them.

Then this evening I noticed what looked like a great spotted woodpecker out there. I could only grab a snap through a glass window

Life in the garden at last

by Steve on 15th May 2011 at 08:00 PM
Hi all,

It is neat that 2011 is starting out so well weather wise isn't it.

I have been really pleased to see wildlife starting to return to the garden, at last. For a very long time I seemed to see very little out there.

That wasn't helped by a local cat setting up home inside a covered garden hammock we have in a corner. I think that frightened off many birds etc.

I'm about to setup cameras in the garden on sunny days so I should be able

November 30th 2010 - and it's snowing

by Steve on 30th November 2010 at 12:43 PM
Hi all,

Just a line to say that it is snowing here in London today.

This is the first snow I have seen this winter. There was a little about this morning and at present there is no settled snow in this area.. so we'll have to see how things progress.

If you live in an area with settled snow why not show us with some photos?

I do love the snow photos each year.. particularly when someone manages to capture a Robin photo or something else

Sue, All 3 of these images have "Orientation: rotate 90" in their EXIF info. It is something your camera seems to add when you take photos with the camera turned 90 degrees. It means the photos will display one way up for those viewing them on standard setups and browsers, but another way up for those using systems that take the 90 degree info as an instruction and turn the photo around. I think the iPad is one system that will show them turned. ie10 on Windows 8 is a system that won't, etc. Do you have any way to stop that command being in your photos I wonder? Maybe a setting on the camera or turning them with your photo software before uploading them perhaps? You may see them already turned in your photo software if it sees the 90 degree info as a command. Steve
