My wife Susan, has asked for a new camera for Xmas.
I am looking for recomendations.
I am looking for a compact, costing no more than £200.
Would like to have GPS if possible.

Gary,
If you get Computer Shopper I notice they have reviews of Ultra Zoom cameras in the Jan 2012 edition, which I got a week or so back.
My new Sony camera cost about £200 in the end after cashback etc and has GPS. It is the Sony HX9V.
It seems to take good pictures, has 16x zoom, and GPS, and some 3D abilities, stereo sound and full HD movie filming etc.
There are lots of others though.. I looked at the Panasonic DMC-TZ20 and only ruled that out after trying one alongside the Sony at a Curry's branch.
I see Computer Shopper chose the Canon SX230 HS in their review.
In the past I've often bought carry around cameras for as little as £80.. or even $80 in the US.
So really it all depends what Susan wants and needs from a camera. Personally I have a large Pentax DSLR that works just great and meets all my needs for that type of photography at present... so I wanted something that simply fit in my pocket, took good photos and full spec HD video... and as I think GPS is fun and interesting I wanted it to have that too.
People have different needs and wants and you may want to stand in Curry's with Susan while she tries some of the different models to see how they feel and work. It is neat that most are charged up and working when on display these days.
I don't know if there is a Best Buy store anywhere near you.. but you have to guess that they may reduce their camera prices lots as Christmas approaches and as you'd assume they need to clear their stocks prior to closure.
The one I visited yesterday had reduced all DVD stocks by 30%... it may be a normal offer but it is quite a deep price cut.

..ps.. another couple of thoughts:
Argos have these deals on at present it seems:
..though I might normally suggest being sure to check out what you can get from www.amazon.co.uk as they so often seem to have such low prices on technology.
