    Lightbulb Raspberry Pi

    Hi all,

The new little £20 pound computer Raspberry Pi interests me so I thought it might others here.

It reminds me of the days when computers from people like Sinclair first started to appear.

One of the two firms selling them is linked to below, and there are details about them on their site etc:

I would have already ordered one if they seemed available... so as it stands I have my name down as interested....something you can do on the page that link above takes you to.

Yes I missed the boat on this one.
I'll order one as soon as they are available again.

However, it's really just fairly simple computer running a version linux - which you can easily do on any PC.

    Gary,

If and when I get one I expect we'll start an area for them, and have photos and info up on them.

I imagine I'll have endless hours of fun with one of these.. just as I did with the early computers that came out.

It seems a shame they seem to have none at a time when they have created huge demand by saying they were launched and available. Mind you, I seem to remember that from the early days with computers too... they were often out of stock as they sold so fast etc.

Interesting new gagdets do seem to regularly sell by the million these days.... and there is a big market in neat toys for adults.

    Re: Raspberry Pi

My Rasberry Pi arrived yesterday and I'm impressed by the build quality. I haven't had the time to download the OS though hope to do it today and try and get it up and running soon.

I'm hoping to hardwire it into the router from my son's room so that he can use it to watch films and get onto the internet as well as learn some basic programming with it.

My only concern is getting a case for it to protect it from knocks etc. Has anyone any ideas?.

I'll let you know how I get on.

There are video's of people using Lego to build cases.

I sold mine a couple of months back as I didn't think I'd have time before the summer to much with it and people were willing to pay more than £30 for it.

My son David actually makes a bespoke case to include batteries for the Pi using a 3D printer.
