Cable car opening

Hi all,

The cable car across the Thames is due to open next Weds lunchtime it seems.

...if anyone here fancies meeting up near the 02 arena to take photos and perhaps have a go on it and take photos from it please just suggest days and times that might work for you.. and we can chat and see who fancies meeting up.

Sounds like a great idea, Steve. Wonder if they'll let you install a BBQ in one of the gondolas, and just keep going round...

Trying to even get near those spots during the Olympics might not be fun... ie for the BBQ weekend in the middle of it all.

In the next week or two though it should be a great time to go see and photograph what is going on with things like the Cable Cars.. and if there are a number of us I expect a meal would take place too as normal...

I've been looking at the Torch relay too thinking of photos etc.. for instance at 4:56pm on Tuesday the 24th of July that is said to be at the Northala Fields 'humps' where I often go to take photos of the London skyline... and not too far from home for you.

I'd be keen to have a look at the cable car if we can sort a time and day. How about Monday 2nd or Tuesday 3rd July? We've got the Olympic torch coming through here later that week.

A look at the cable car sounds very interesting, any day the first week in July is ok.

The torch passes through Kenilworth on its way to Coventry on July 1st and we have tickets for the Australian ODI on the 4th so either of the 2nd or 3rd would be possible for me unless I something specific comes up at work. I haven't taken a day off in a while.

OK...so we have interest from Me, Andy, John, Binu, Walter, and Bob.

You'd think the Tuesday might be quieter than the Monday - so as nobody seems to mind which it is I suggest The Tuesday.

We need a time and place to meet and ideas for what else to do. Doing it in the afternoon and having an early evening meal at our normal Mexican place is one idea from me.

Perhaps something like 2pm outside North Greenwich Station. Photograph cable cars etc. Those who want to can do a return journey on it.

Then walk to Cutty Sark and see what is there now. Then boat to Westminster and bus to nr the Mexican. Early evening meal with anyone working that day or unable to walk far joining us there.. Then split.

Just ideas to try and be helpful, I don't mind what we do.

Hopefully Andy can check if Lew will be available for the meal or off in hospital or whatever.
