I don't plan to move to Windows 8 just yet, think I'll wait and see if it has any benefits for us without touch screens.

    Re: Windows 8 expected launch

    Hi all,

I can now report that I unexpectedly have upgraded one portable to Windows 8.

A Vista machine was playing up and an easy solution was to upgrade it for around £25.

It downloaded and installed with ease, and seems to work fine. The machine seems much better with Windows 8 in place of Vista.

There is a lot that is different in Windows 8. Much of it seems aimed at tracking and recording what everyone does, much like the aims we seem to see from Google and Apple these days.

    Steve
