    Hi Brian

Had a look at the specs for both cameras.

    http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/ca...9500/index.php

I would say that the fuji has more things in it's favour, 9 megapixels against 6 megapixels is a big advantage, also the fuji has a faster shutter speed.
The fuji can also shoot in raw mode against just jpeg for the canon.

The canon has one big advantage over the fuji, and that is with the image stabilised lens which can be worth a couple of extra stops.

In my opinion the fuji, although slightly dearer than the canon is the better camera. Their may be someone on ukexpert who has used both cameras and will give you better insight into both cameras.

    Brian,

I suspect I'd be trying the Canon, though I'd be a little disappointed with the 6 megapixels.. it doesn't seem quite enough.

You have links here to the specs for both cameras.. and obviously the choice is yours to make.. and there are dozens of other cameras to also consider.

It simply comes down to what you want to do with the camera... both have their strong points and one should work better for you personally. Many people also of course go for DSLRs these days, and they have their good and bad points too.

As I say, I think I'd be trying the Canon personally..but that's just me and my love of stabilised 12x Zoom cameras like the Panasonic's I have used a lot.

Let us know what you choose/buy... and show us some of your best photos from it maybe...tis always nice to see how folks get on with their new cameras.

    Steve
