    Terminal 5, Wembley, etc.

    Hi all,

It seems there is an opportunity to visit places like Terminal 5 and Wembley whilst they are under construction.. this below is from a local newspaper.

Anyone think this an opportunity we should explore/follow up? I presume taking impossible to repeat pictures would be a major aim for such a trip...assuming they allow photography at all the sites....

Anyone want to volunteer to look into this for us...(as I think Bob may have done such stuff before... )

I would have thought combining Wembley and T5 would perhaps be ideal for a small group from here...

    Steve,

That sounds like a very good idea. There are some more details including contacts etc at
    http://www.acenet.co.uk/news/releases/2004/04-08-11.asp

I'd be interested in seeing Wembley Stadium, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and Terminal 5 Heathrow.

I think the info we now have probably rules out T5 for me.. they seem to plan to keep everyone on a bus and I dislike photos through bus windows in general and don't fancy that.

With Wembley then I'm still tempted, a lot of footy nuts may go along and they may be there for the opening on the Saturday morning, so you'd think that might be the busiest time.. hard to tell.

I wonder about wandering over there on Sunday morning around opening time.... there is perhaps also Wembley market going on then as something I can look at too...assuming they still do that on Sundays next to the stadium. There is a Web site that seems to say they do: http://www.mybrent.co.uk/brent/shops-wembleymarket.htm

It may be something folks will just do if they feel like it, if a couple go along Saturday and I go Sunday maybe we'll get a few pictures for here between us or something.

I looked at the Heathrow visitor site at:
    http://www.baa.co.uk/main/airports/h...ntre_page.html

and it seems the buses are not even going onsite. They'll probably see as much as we did when we were photographing Concorde! If they had open top buses that wouldn't be so bad, but I called them and they didn't seem to know much about it, so I agree that's not worth the bother.

I would like to see Wembley and Sunday morning sounds like a good time. Meet there just before 10?

OK....I'll try and be in the line to get in..

If Walter or others come Sunday morning they can do the same and we should all see each other and can have a chat etc.

If the lines to see Wembley are too great I may take a photo or two from outside and do the market... that should work whatever happens.

I seem to remember the market having good parking years back...but I may go by train as it is only 1 stop from here on the Chiltern Line.

It would be fine..... but... I'd let you pay your own fare which may be a fiver for a travelcard or something... Also you'd need to be here around 9am.

Driving straight to Wembley and parking in the market car park would probably let you leave home 30 mins later and save you the fiver... also vital if you bought anything large at the market, and it is quite a market with lots of goodies as I remember it.

Totally up to you anyway...if you say you are coming here great and if you say we'll meet in the line great... either will work fine and just choose whichever you prefer.
