...I do find US news strange at times. In this case for instance, a man is said to have caused the loss of $50 billion.. but he has been let out of custody.. why.. because he had $10 million to pay for his release... erm??

Note the news story says he can be fined up to $5 million... erm??

It is just my view, and just based on the news story above and media reports at present.. but shouldn't they:

1) Keep him in prison? He seems to admit what he has done, so surely that's that... the rest of his life will be behind bars? Should having $10m to pay for bail mean he is given bail - I think not!

2) Remove or at least freeze all the funds he has, so they can all be available to be given to those who have lost out? Including the $10m he is reported to have offered for bail? The story also talks of him giving hundreds of millions out to family and friends, shouldn't all of that also be frozen, even if it was money they invested with him.. on the basis that perhaps his family etc should come last on the pecking order of debtors not first??

I do find a lot of what seems to be reported from the US hard to make sense of... and this story in particular just seems to be plain odd... I wonder if those reading it/this agree...
